Let's work together.

Van Winden's Garden Center is always looking for enthusiastic and engaging individuals for our team. While gardening knowledge isn't required, we love finding people who have a keen interest in what we do. We accept applications year-round and encourage people to come in to fill out an application.

At this time we’re accepting applications for…

Entry Level Nursery Person : Full Time / Part Time

Horticulture, gardening, or retail nursery experience appreciated. Knowledge of plants and landscaping techniques appreciated. The best candidate will be an energetic, good-natured person. Ideal candidates can educate customers but also aren't afraid to admit they need help finding an answer and can ask more knowledgeable co-workers to help answer customer questions.

Customer service experience would be a huge plus. You’ll be responsible for greeting customers and helping them find the plants and tools that they need. You'll get a lot of questions about plants, so you’ll need to be able to admit quickly when you don't have the answer and find someone on staff who does! We’re looking for someone who is eager to keep learning.

You’ll be expected to lift, carry, and move heavy items on a daily basis so you’ll need to be strong and fit. You must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly. You’ll move everything from 1 gallon cans to 24” box trees (with a tool!), water plants, load sold merchandise like soils and plants into vehicles, weed and clean the Garden Center grounds, move large plants and pottery, haul plants around Garden Center, and create displays with direction from more experienced staff members. You will spend most of your time outdoors, walking around our two-acre park-like property and helping customers with their gardening needs.

You’ll have a regular schedule. Shifts are between 8:45am-5:15pm 5 days a week. *Hourly payscale range $17.00/hr-19.00/hr. Full time employees are eligible for health and dental benefits after 90 days. Van Winden's also offers a simple IRA matching program. All staff members receive an employee discount and may qualify for discretionary seasonal bonuses.
